Need Help! Where can I find….

Where can I find a running list of all the allusions/echoes of the LXX/OT in the NT?  I know that often people turn to the margins of the NA27 – rightly so.  Anywhere else?  Is it in a book somewhere?  Is there a webpage that focuses on this?

Any help would be great!

My specific interest is in Paul’s use of the OT or his allusions/echoes…

  1. In addition to the NA 27 appendices, take a look at the table in D. Moody Smith’s article on the Pauline Literature in D. A. Carson and H. G. M. Williamson, eds. It Is Written: Scripture Citing Scripture. Essays in Honour of Bernabas Lindars. Cambridge, 1988.

  2. I have a collection of links here:
    Of these, particularly note:
NT Allusions to Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha (
Decker’s OT Citation Forumlas in the NT (

For more thorough lists, use Archer & Chirichigno ( < Note that this is included with BibleWorks
    Beale & Carson's Commentary… (

  3. Hello, nice reading some of your posts.

I am sure you know this volume:
Ancient texts for New Testament Studies :A guide to the background literature / Craig A. Evans
Some allusions in section: Quotations, Allusions, and Parallels to the NT

  4. Hübner’s work seems to be pretty much definitive, but the older works by Dittmar (Vetus Testamentum in Novo) and Turpie (Old Testament in the New) may be helpful as well. They’re available online on Google Books.

  5. Craig Evan’s book: NonCanonical Writings and New Testament Interpretation has a very comprehensive list that I use all the time. Check it out.
